The Chilterns Dog Rescue Society was formed in 1963 to rescue unwanted and homeless dogs and to provide accommodation until such time as permanent homes can be found.   Since the Society was formed over 16,000 dogs have been successfully homed and we currently re-home approximately 400 dogs a year.

No dog, whatever size, age, temperament or background is ever refused help and the Chilterns Dog Rescue Society prides itself in that no dog is ever needlessly destroyed.

We put a lot of effort into putting the right dog into the right home, as well as providing training support where needed and this is reflected in what the public say about us.

"What a fantastic job your team do!  I was impressed at the number of dogs you manage to re-home from a single relatively small kennels - particularly knowing the care you take to match the right dog to each home."

"Having helped out with dog-walking for a few months now, I must say how impressed I am by the dedication of the staff and volunteers at the Rescue Centre.  The efforts made to walk and train dogs are exceptional.  I have seen such transformations in some of the dogs."

Our needs are ever growing.  Our team of dedicated staff and volunteers not only provide care for the dogs but also work tirelessly to raise the much needed funds to continue and improve the work of Chilterns Dog Rescue Society.

You can help us in a number of ways :-

  • We urgently need help with our fundraising street and shop collections.  If you have a spare couple of hours, usually on a Saturday, please call the Rescue Centre on 01442 876009.  Newcomers would be accompanied by someone who has done it before.
  • By assisting us with organising one of our regular and varied fund-raising events or even holding one of your own. Please advise us if you intend arranging your own event.
  • Collecting blankets and towels for use at the kennels.
  • Providing equipment for the kennels such as stainless steel bowls, collars, leads, brooms and baskets.
  • Giving a donation or making a bequest or legacy.

Those who cannot give financial help may still be interested in helping out as a dog walker.

Alternatively, if you think you can offer a dog a good home, please do get in touch and we will try to match you and your home with a suitable dog.

The rescue Centre is usually open six days a week from 10.30am to 2.00pm. We are closed on Wednesdays.

From the A416 in Ashley Green turn into Hog Lane opposite the church.  At the end of the lane turn left at the T junction, you are still in Hog Lane, go to the end of the lane again and turn left again at the next T junction. You are still in Hog Lane. We are then the 3rd drive on the left.  It is approximately 1 mile from the main road in Ashley Green.
